ROCKHAMPTON ATTRACTIONS
Rosslyn Bay Boat Harbour is the starting point for an adventure where you can discover the Keppel bunker group of islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
The areas of the Great Barrier Reef off
Central Queensland are some of the most stunning stretches of the reef in existence, and here
you will find a mixture of tropical and sub-tropical fish and coral mixing in crystal clear waters.
Snorkelling, diving, reef-walking or just leaning over the side
of the boat you'll be able to appreciate one of the world's great natural wonders.
The islands you can access from Rosslyn Bay include Great Keppel Island - one of Australia's most popular
holiday destinations, North Keppel Island, Pumpkin Island and Barren Island. Regular passenger vessels depart
the boat harbour for these islands.
If you'd like to relax on the beautiful white beaches of an island
paradise, then Great Keppel Island is just what you're looking for.
There are three styles of accommodation available at Mercure Resort Great Keppel Island.
Garden rooms are situated close to all of the resort facilities.
Beachfront rooms are unrivalled for location. Just 50 metres
to the beach and close to all facilities. Hillside Villas
are air conditioned for maximum comfort.
Is fishing your idea of a great holiday? Regular fishing charters leave
the boat harbour, or if you would rather keep your feet planted on
terra firma throw a line in at the Causeway lake.
The lake is well known for water sports, safe swimming and good
fishing and is a popular family picnic spot.
To the south of Yeppoon is Emu Park, home to the Singing Ship. This
distinctive memorial was erected for the Captain James Cook bi-centenary
celebration and is inspired by his ship, the "Endeavour", and it overlooks the
Keppel Group of islands.
Another great island vantage point is Wreck Point, Cooee Bay, home to the
annual World Cooee Competition.
